Postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) is a leading cause of maternal morbidity and mortality worldwide.The most common cause of PPH is uterine atony (80%) of cases, resulting from suboptimal uterine involution and poor contraction of spiral arteries following placental separation. The goal of therapy is timely intervention to prevent haemorrhagic hypovolemic shock, intravascular disseminated coagulopathy, reduced tissue perfusion, and metabolic acidosis.
